With more and more people relocating to Southern Nevada from Southern California the overwhelming savings with their cost of living is still leaving many transients in shock. Their dollar is stretched much farther allowing them a luxury lifestyle that was unattainable in tax heavy California.
I recently previewed a luxury home in Henderson’s MacDonald Highlands for a client relocating from California and took the opportunity to film a quick video pointing out some cost of living facts.
Comparing the Southern NV luxury lifestyle to Southern CA
Here’s an interesting fact: Major League Baseball superstar Bryce Harper is a true born-and-bred Las Vegas native. He grew up on the east side of the city, attended Las Vegas High School, played a season at the College of Southern Nevada, and still spends much of the off-season here close to his family and friends.
Even though he’s worth millions and could live literally anywhere in the world, Harper recently decided to buy a beautiful luxury home in Henderson, NV — Vegas’ “little brother” to the south. Here are 10 interesting things to know about the MVP slugger’s new mansion…
It cost $2.7 million. Pricey but, since Bryce will soon have a new contract worth $100’s of millions, we think he can afford it.
It’s practically brand new. Construction was finished just last year.
It features a modern spin on the ‘Prairie School’ architectural style. That’s a Midwestern style but it’s not uncommon here in the desert southwest.
It’s 7400 square feet. Still not big enough to contain one of Bryce’s home runs.
It has a ‘wine wall’ that can hold nearly 400 bottles of hooch. Since Harper is a Mormon and non-drinker, we assume it’ll be used to hold his baseball trophies.
It has an indoor cascading waterfall. Because being one of the greatest athletes in the world is stressful, and sometimes you just need to sit by your own waterfall to decompress for a few hours.
It has an indoor ornamental garden feature. Perfect for the nature lover who doesn’t have a lot of free time to actually spend in nature.
It has a swimming pool with a raised spa and an amazing view of the Las Vegas Strip. Because even people who live in luxury Henderson homes want to see what’s going on in Sin City.
It has a chef’s kitchen featuring quartzite countertops and an island bar. Just like Bryce, quartzite is native to Nevada.
It has 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and a large game room. Harper has stated many times that he doesn’t like to “party” but, if he ever changes his mind, he now has the perfect home in which to throw blowouts.
We’re very glad that hometown hero Bryce Harper has decided to stay in the Vegas area and, especially, that he’s chosen to live in our beautiful city of Henderson, NV. It really does offer the best of all worlds in terms of lifestyle and amenities… which is why we constantly recommend Henderson to our clients.

There are Las Vegas luxury homes and then there’s David Copperfield’s new 31,000 square foot Summerlin mansion. The custom built property is, quite literally, one of the nicest homes ever purchased in the Vegas valley.
To say it is “unique” is an understatement. Here are 7 of the craziest things about the famous illusionist’s new house…
1. He made it “appear” on the market
The home wasn’t even for sale when Copperfield and his fiancée Chloe Gosselin discovered it. They’d been searching for a new Vegas home for over a year and, after seeing this estate, decided to make an offer the owner couldn’t refuse.
2. It’s the most expensive home ever purchased in Las Vegas
In order to get his hands on this not-for-sale home, Copperfield had to shell out over 17 and a half million dollars ($17.55M to be precise) — the most for any Vegas luxury property ever. For the same amount of money, he could’ve bought 76 “normal” Las Vegas homes at the current median price.
3. The door is HUGE
The front door of this home is 18 feet tall and weighs over 2000 pounds. Local construction experts tell us it’s possibly the biggest, heaviest door in Vegas, and could easily keep out one of Siegfried & Roy’s white tigers (you know, in case a Vegas illusionist war ever breaks out).
4. It features a large zen garden… inside the house
Japanese zen gardens are designed to “imitate the intimate essence of nature… and to serve as an aid to meditation about the true meaning of life.” That’s great unless you live in a desert city where the temperature often reaches over 110 degrees Fahrenheit. By purchasing a home with an indoor zen garden, Copperfield can search for the meaning of life without passing out from heatstroke or suffering 2nd degree sunburns.
5. There’s a “golf simulation room”
This home is right next to one of the best golf courses in the Las Vegas valley, but Vegas illusionists work odd hours. This golf simulation room (imagine a giant virtual reality golf video game) allows Copperfield to work on his short game even at 3 in the morning.
6. There’s a full-service resort-style spa on the premises.
Being one of the world’s top illusionists is surely very stressful. Luckily, almost any amount of stress can be quickly removed by spending time in your own dry sauna, eucalyptus steam room, whirlpool, and/or massage room.
7. It has its own nightclub.
In a city with some of the biggest, nicest, highest-grossing clubs in the world this seems like a bit of a strange amenity on the surface. But Copperfield has been known to spend insane amounts of money on bottle service on the Strip, so this feature alone will probably pay for the entire house within a year or two! 🙂
Bonus Facts
This 1.58-acre luxury property sits on a street called Enclave Court, but its unofficial nickname is “Billionaire’s Row” because some of the richest people in Vegas live on it.
UFC owners and local casino moguls Lorenzo Fertitta and Frank Fertitta live on the same street.
You have to pass through a total of 3 gates to get into the home, including one that is guarded by armed security 24/7.
